Rocky Mountain Arsenal - Conducting a necropsy to determine contaminant levels in both mule and white-tailed deer.

Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge Nevada - Capturing white pelicans as part of a nationwide project investigating the impact of lead fishing tackle on fish eating birds.

San Diego Submarine Base - Capturing great blue herons with a net gun to study the disease steatitis. Once released, herons quickly returned to their normal routine.

Rocky Mountain National Park - Its cold at 11,000 feet in August. I was assisting folks from the National Wildlife Research Center with a Chronic Wasting Disease research project targeting elk.

Central Wyoming -The ranchers around Lusk Wyoming were not at all surprised to find an airplane parked on the dirt road.

Hopi Reservation - Taking a dip in a large stock tank on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona. It was an oasis in the parched landscape. I was assisting folks from the US Army Medical Institute for Infectious Diseases with a plague research project.

Matamuskeet National Wildlife Refuge - Tundra swans under a rocket net. Those folks at Matamuskeet sure knew how to catch them. Note the thousands of geese and swans flying in the background.

Assateague Island - Mike Yates with an adult peregrine captured on Assateague Island.

Elk Mountain Wyoming - I darted this cow moose, and we had to carry her across the Medicine Bow River in Elk Mountain Wyoming. She had been hanging out on the grade school playground for a week and the kids couldn't go out for recess until I relocated her.
